If you want to see a run down place - that's your hotel. It feels you are in a comedy - faulty towers - or Stephen King. The staff trying their best and I am grateful for their efforts, but whoever owns this is not at all interested in this place: nobody at reception after 7pm, had to run through the building to find someone. Then there was already someone in my room I was given. After some confusion they gave me another room. The beds have youth hostel quality. No soap or toiletries. But the best - the second day there was no electricity. I sat in a dark room in the evening. At least I went to bed early. An exceptional experience. That's a hotel for the adventurous traveller. For £69 certainly a rip-off in my mind.

Sandown is lovely has a beach good bus transport and a railway station.Buses go to Ryde Ventor and Shanklin and run quite often there's also the Island breezer and Downs breezer which give you a nice ride.Sandown has quite a few small shops couple of take aways and pubs and a lovely front to walk along with cafes and restaurants and it has a slot machine arcade that does bingo too and you can walk along the front to Shanklin.

Very busy on sunny days, but don't try and get an evening meal on Sunday as everywhere bar the Chineese and Indian were closed. A lot of places were not open during the week either.. Very dated and a lot of empty shops.

I felt the area looked a bit run down.
I felt the area looked a bit run down. No good shops, several boarded up delapitated buildings. Even the sky nets and surrounding kids stuff looked old and tired!
Quite a few nice looking pubs / restaraunts to choose from. We had a meal at The Reef which most people enjoyed.
We didnt feel the need to go anywhere else as we were only there for a weekend and had amazing weather. The house and the beach were all we wanted.

We went in February and a lot of the Island's attractions weren't open yet but we found everyone really friendly and it was quite nice to be given the time of day which we may not have got in peak season. Can't say anything about the beach or the front as it was raining too hard and consistently to explore but we went to the museum in Ryde and to Dimbola house, both of which were worthwhile and it was nice driving around on nearly empty roads.

Love it, been many many times, well over 20. shame to see so many places shutting down but that is sign of the times. Some wonderful shops. A beautiful beach. The best place we ate was in Shanklin though along the seafront. Had the boat wheel think it was called steamer or something it was awesome. Not happy you have to pay for parking at night-time now. Very friendly people everywhere you go. Isle of wight is Awesome. The ferry cost a fortune for such a short trip across, makes you want to travel in the middle of the night . We stayed at the Broadway Inn this time was very impressed. Really close to the beach. Love the tesco in Ryde. Found an amazing carvery on the journey there. Its a pub near the premier convenience store, the purple one. Forgotten its name. Anyway cant wait for next year.

Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities...
Sandown has its own pier with traditional seaside activities and the beach. We particularly enjoyed Dinosaur Isle to see fossils and how life has been pre-human on the island. The National Poo Museum is small but good fun and interesting for all the ages.
Brading is a 5-10mins bus ride away to see the well preserved Roman Villa and there is a vinyard not far from their either :D Walking to Shanklin along the coast path is lovely for a really traditional British Seaside scene. We'd advise against walking on to Ventnor as the path is rugged and there is very little to see, with cliff path diversions it took us 4hrs and we defo bused it back.
We enjoyed food at The Reef, Flanigan's and Kate's Cafe.
We moved to Cowes for visiting Carisbrooke Castle and Osbourne House as they would each be about 1.5hrs from Sandown by bus, but if you had a car I'd stay based here.
I liked the location of the property in relation to where I was working. The free parking was also a bonus meaning that I could walk to where I was working. The proprietors were helpful in that they swapped the room I had been allocated on the first floor to one on the ground floor as I have a disability that makes stairs difficult with heavy suitcases. This was because my booking suggested that my room would be on the ground whereas initially it was not.
This is a very lovely boutique hotel , feels like newly renovated and very close to Sandown Beach and Sandown high street. Maximum 10-15 minutes walk to centre. Even though they do not have free parking in the premises. We did not struggle to find parking on the road literally across the hotel each day.
Breakfast was delicious , owners are really friendly and rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable. We are very pleased with our stay.
spacious lounge with linked conservatory for relaxing, excellent location 2 minutes from spectacular view over sandown bay and clifftop path to shanklin and sandown centre/pier, quiet with onsite parking, all the essentials for a comfortable self catering stay, owner is quick to reply to messages
Great centralised location literally opposite the beach and with shops, restaurants and buses all within walking distance. Staff were excellent and make you feel very welcomed throughout. Big screen TV by the lobby to be viewed by all guests. Parking facilities right outside the hotel.
Great location near Sandown train station, main street and seafront. Perfect for enjoying the beach and the town. The fixtures and fittings in the hotel were modern and we were able to enjoy our stay in the town. It was handy to have the little common area with bowls, plates, etc.
Spotless throughout. Lovely friendly welcoming staff. Breakfast delicious, cooked to order, plenty of choice. Family room spacious enough and very comfortable beds. Quiet location. 10min walk into Sandown. Would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return.
The owners and staff were very nice and helpful. The room was a little small but comfortable and clean. The breakfast was well-prepared and extensive. The hotel itself was spotless and the owners had gone to considerable lengths to make the place welcoming.
THE HOTEL IS A BUDGET HOTEL AND IF YOU ARE ONLY SLEEPING IN THE ROOM OR SHORT STAYS DURING THE DAY A GOOD BASE. JUST A 3 MIN WALK TO SANDOWN TOWN AND 5 MINS FROM THE PIER. THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND BEDDING AND TOWELS CLEAN.
long history behind this beautiful hotel near the sandown beach, and have all the fundamentals facilities we need. The lounge room is great for a group of friends to stay late and talk (we are not noisy at all).
Very good value. Bigger than average single room.
Substantial breakfast - good choice and freshly cooked.
Location not all that near the town centre and beach, though that wasn't a problem for me.
The hotel is located on the beach front so it is in an excellent location. The rooms are reasonably big. We had a family room which had a double bed plus two single beds which were decent sized.
Location is perfect. Room size excellent. Staff always helpful. The indoor pool, despite the ‘competition’ for the jacuzzi… A decent Wi-Fi and the parking facilities.
Very nice refreshed hotel, friendly and helpful staff, good food, close to centre Sandown, close to beach, including parking space ,big family rooms, Perfect 🥰
The hotel was in front of the beach and had different food shacks from Thursday onwards. A pub on the ground floor and seating areas both inside and outside
